Wheat Grinder

A wheat grinder is great for anybody looking to turn wheat into flour for baking.

On this page I’ll go over the different types of wheat grinders and what to look for when buying them. When you want to skip this and go straight to my reviews, please click here.

There are two main tools for grinding wheat. One works manually and one runs off of a motor. The manual grinders are great for people looking to become self sufficient, but can be a lot of work.

Many people feel that the manual grinders should be much less expensive than the grinders that run off of a motor, and in many cases they are right. However, these grinders usually don’t work that great and can be hard to use as well as very time consuming.

It is possible to buy a great manual wheat grinder that works fast and makes great flour. Unfortunately, this will cost you as much if not more than a basic wheat grinder with a motor.

How To Buy A Manual Wheat Grinder

When buying a manual grinder, you should define your uses. Are you going to be grinding lots of wheat, or do you just want to have something for emergencies? Will your manual grinder be used just for wheat, or will you be grinding other grains?

This is important because you may find that you only need a small and inexpensive grinder, or you may need something more intense. Also, you might find that you don’t need a wheat grinder at all. It is possible that you only need a barley crusher or some other type of dry grain mill.

How To Buy An Electric Grain Mill

When buying an electric grinder, you want to take the same first step you would take when buying a manual grinder. You will want to analyze your needs.

For those of you that simply need something for home use, you won’t need anything excessively expensive. You’ll still pay a few hundred dollars, but you’ll make that money back by not having to buy flour anymore.

As you may already know, it is much less expensive to buy bulk wheat than it is to buy flour. It is also much healthier to eat freshly ground wheat than it is to eat store bought flour.

However, if you are looking for something to use in your bakery, you should expect to pay upwards of a thousand dollars if not more. Just keep in mind that a high end machine could end up lasting you a lifetime, so over the course of your life the machine will end up costing pennies a day.

Wheat Grinder Reviews

If you’re searching for manual grain mill reviews, then visit my page especially written on them. Otherwise, keep reading and I’ll go over some of my favorite electric wheat grinders.

The Tribest Wolfgang Grain Mill

wheat grinder reviewsThis wheat grinder tops the list because of its ability to quickly grind wheat into flour without heating it up to nutrition killing temperatures. Although eating wheat flour that you have ground yourself will almost always be healthier than flour bought from the store, a hot grinder can destroy some of the nutrients found in wheat

In addition to this, you’ll find that this grinder is very easy to clean and extremely easy to operate. It also has a small foot print which makes it ideal for home use.

The only drawback to this grinder is that it is expensive for a home based wheat grinder. For the price, and if you have the space, it almost makes sense to just upgrade to a commercially viable grinder.

The Electric Wondermill Whisper Mill and The L’Equip 760200 NutriMill Grain Mill

wheat grinderThese grain mills come in at around the same price and basically operate the same. They can make very fine and very consistent flour, as well as grains.

The beautiful thing about these mills is the fact that they are perfect for home use. These electric grinders do not take up much space, look just like any other kitchen appliance, and can be partially cleaned in a dishwasher.

Unfortunately, these grinders can run very hot which can kill some of the nutrients that you get from grinding your own grains. However, you’ll still be able to capitalize on the bulk of the extra nutrition and all of the fantastic taste.

If you’re searching for a great home wheat grinder, you can’t go wrong with the grinders listed above.
